We went up to Pipe Creek to get our Christmas tree.  I love the perfection of a fake tree and Jake loves a real tree, so we have 2 this year - one in the living room and one in the family room.  It was a great farm. Didn't compare to Northstar back in Placerville, but the prices were great and the kids had fun.  We all wore pants and were wishing we had shorts on.  That was a little wierd - but nice at the same time.

We took a hay ride around the whole field then hiked through to find the perfect one.  We think its great.  They're a different kind of tree that we are use to, but its really pretty.  I had to buy plastic ornaments for the fake tree - Nathan loves balls.  I was hoping he'd leave the glass balls alone on teh real tree, since it is so pokey - but no luck so far.
Emma loved that she got to cut the tree down by herself.  She proudly wwas telling everyone about it and how she yelled "TIMBER"
More sawing...Nate was more interested in rocks and sticks.  He loved sticks right now and if he can use it to dig in dirt its even better.  He was so dirty by the time we got home.
Nate is really excited to go on the hay ride!
We might have to make this a yearly tradition.
Emma was really concerned about how tall she was.  She really wants to be big.
The farm was up in the prettiest area.  Its called hill country, but I think that only in Texas would they call it hill country.  its more like not so flat country.  It is beautiful though.  Jake and were saying that if we stay here forever we'll have to buy a little cabin up there - excpet I bet there are scorpions up in the woods and I'm scared to death of them.  So far I've avoided any encounters with them and I hope it stays that way.

When we went to pick out our tree we wore pants and coats and gloves and scarves and we were still cold. I guess we are a long way from TX! We picked out a tree quickly, then Chris went in to pay so I put the girls in the car and loaded the tree into the back of the truck. When he came back out with the lot owner they couldn't figure out where the tree went. I pointed to the truck. They were astonished that I had loaded it alone, it isn't like the tree is heavy. Besides cold weather is a good motivator to get things done quickly if it means you can get warm sooner.
