We decided to celebrat Nathan's birthday on Sunday. Jake was starting on a new client on Monday and you never know how late the nights are going to be. So we started off the birthday celebration with Daddy cooking french toast sticks. His favorite breakfast food. Even better if it has chocolate milk with it (that's how they serve it at sissy's school). Then Nate got his groove on to some birthday music. He loves to dance to anything - even the hymns at church. Here he is rocking out in the clip below.
Then we let him attack his mountain of presents. He was a little slow figuring out how to tear them open, but once he had it down there was no stopping him.
His first present was his trike. We took him to the store to try it out and see if he would like it. He cried and cried when we took him off of it. Apparently he didn't notice it was in the box in the shopping cart (I love being able to shop for presents with them and they don't realize it - much harder when you have to be sneaky about it.) Then we tried to assemble it, but Nate was being a big helper, so we let him open his next present - a musical cow. He loves it. If it were soft he'd probably sleep with it. He threw a huge fit when I took it away to take it out of the box. He spent a lot of time just sitting and dancing with it today.
Here is Nate riding his bike for the first time. He loved it and thought he was pretty big stuff. Then he realized we were pushing him and he decided he should push it. His favorite part is the bell. You just have to watch him, because he will let go of the handle bars to work on ringing the bell.
Then we had a quick lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches - Nate's other fave. Then it was off to church for the primary program. Emma did a great job on her part. She was really proud of herself. After church our great neighbors came over for dinner and cake. We had mashed sweet potatoes - also Nate's favorite with Roast and other things he doesn't eat. (there are still NO TEETH!! You can see both his front teeth, only a minuscule layer of skin is keeping them from breaking through. In fact it looks like they are in, but you can feel the skin over them - I think his gums might be made of steel) And back to the point, so we had dinner. Then the cake that was in the last post. We tried to let him blow out the candle, but he just wanted to grab it, so sissy helped out. He did enjoy eating the cake. Nate is a little sugar hound. He and Emma are so much a like, but some how he didn't get the health nut gene that Emma did. We played with our neighbors for quite a while. They have a little boy Emma's age and then one that is just older than Nate. Then he crashed into bed ready to start his real birthday- don't tell him it wasn't his real birthday. His real birthday was not nearly as exciting. He did get to ride his trike to sissy's school.
