So these aren't a picture of our new potatoes, because they didn't survive long enough to get a picture. A little while ago I had some potatoes start sprouting in the pantry. (This is a skill that I am really good at.) So we threw them in the garden. Today instead of baking potatoes Jake decided we should dig some out of the garden. The kids loved it. I forgot to warn Jake about the seed potato - I hate grabbing it on accident, as did Jake. We had a nice little bowl of them and we cooked them in chicken broth until tender, then let the broth boil off and added butter to the frying pan. They were delicious.
We also found that a rabbit was living in our garden. He came back later, so I'm thinking that might be his home. Which might explain what has been eating my baby tomatoes, but then it could be birds.
So we're ready for our first rotation of the year in the garden. The peas and potatoes are done....so now we've got to decide what to put in their place.

The potatoes sound delicious! I seem to have the same talent for sprouting potatoes in the pantry. I need to plant them! So what exactly happens to the seed potato, I don't want to get it by accident!
